Basic salary, not gross, drives both numbers
Gratuity and PF contributions are calculated on basic salary alone — house rent, medical
and other allowances don't count, which is exactly why employers sometimes structure pay
with a lower basic proportion. See the
Salary Structure Calculator to see how your
package splits.
Frequently asked questions
How is gratuity calculated under Bangladesh law?
The Bangladesh Labour Act ties the rate to how service ends and how long you've worked — commonly 30 days' wages per year of service for resignation after 5+ years, but as low as 14 days' wages per year for termination with under 5 years' service. The "days of wage per year" input lets you match whichever tier applies to your situation.
Do I keep the employer's Provident Fund contribution if I resign?
It depends on your fund's trust deed — many registered PF trusts fully vest the employer portion only after a minimum membership period, forfeiting it on earlier exit. Check your specific fund's rules; this assumes full vesting.
Why does the PF interest rate need updating?
Provident fund interest is usually set by the fund trustees or by a Bangladesh Bank-linked circular and changes periodically — use the rate your fund actually declared for the year, not a generic guess.
